What Each Filter Simulates

Protanopia

Red-blindness: the red-sensing cones are missing. Reds look darker and can be confused with black or green.

Deuteranopia

Green-blindness: the green-sensing cones are missing. Green deficiencies are the most common kind of color blindness, and reds and greens are hard to tell apart.

Tritanopia

Blue-blindness: a rare condition in which blues and yellows are hard to tell apart.

Achromatopsia

Total color blindness (monochromacy): the world is seen only in shades of grey.

Cataracts

Clouding of the eye's lens that blurs vision, reduces contrast, and causes glare sensitivity. It is common with age.

Glaucoma (Tunnel Vision)

Progressive loss of peripheral vision, leaving only a narrow central field of view.

Pro Tip

Simulating what users see is only half the picture: issues like missing alt text and keyboard traps live in the code, invisible here. Check your color contrast automatically, then run a free accessibility scan to catch the rest.
